Penis Enlargement Surgery
Penis Enlargement Surgery or
penis enhancement surgery or penile augmentation is a surgical procedure used for penis enlargement.
It consists of two phases, one surgery for increasing its
girth (width) and another one for increasing the penis' length. Typically, both this surgical procedures are done together in one go than performing separately at different times.
The first surgical method, for increasing the girth of the penis, achieves its objective by implanting fat cells -
usually taken from the subject's abdomen - around the penis. The procedure, technically called 'fat transfer', bulks-up the girth of the penis by as much as 1 to 3 inches. But, here it must be understood that this procedure is not without its share of drawbacks.
One, the implanted tissue gives a soft 'breasty' feel to the penis, and secondly, there is a possibility of these fat cells getting reabsorbed back into the body. If that happens, most of the times, the re-absorption will be uneven, and the penis will be left with a disgusting lumpy and unsightly look in the end.
This problem can be solved to a good extent with the newer 'dermal transfer' method - in which strips of skin is grafted alongside fat cells to prevent the latter from getting reabsorbed into the body - but this surgical procedure is a tad complex and it carries with it an added risk of disfigurement of the penis if anything goes wrong at any step of the operation.
The second surgical procedure, for increasing the length of the penis, involves releasing the
corpora cavernosa tissue surgically. It is this tissue that gets filled with blood during erections, and when that happens, the part of the tissue hidden inside the body is released, resulting in an increase in the length of the male organ.
In penis enlargement surgery, this concealed part of
corpora cavernosa is released by cutting the suspensory ligaments that anchors the tissue to the body. As a result, the hidden
corpora cavernosa comes forward thus increasing the overall length of penis outside the body.
The disadvantage with this method is that while it certainly gives flaccid size gains, during erections, the increase in length will not be so great, but marginal only. Further, things will be quite ok when the penis lie flaccid, but while during copulation, since the penis now is free off the pubic bone, it can shift or slip around during the act, causing much discomfort to the person.
Also, since there are no suspensory ligaments to hold the penis attached to the pubic bone, erections can point downwards. This issue can be surgically corrected these days, but still recovery any where near the original angle is a near impossibility.
To sum it up,
penis enlargement surgery
is a bit risky and this is exactly the reason why most doctors discourage people from undergoing it. Those who still want to go ahead, it is advisable to have a detailed discussion with their own doctors, and undergo counseling sessions before finally consulting the surgeons.
